The year he turned 24, he appeared on MBC’s audition program Widaehan Tansaeng 3, his first time on television. The year he turned 26, he debuted in January with the single “Would You Like Some Coffee?” From 2015 he was an artist on Neuron Music’s roster. In 2016, he released “Rain,” a single used as background music in an advertisement, and in March his first mini album, Song Diary.

The breakthrough yearThe year he turned 29, he first appeared on KBS2’s You Hee-yeol’s Sketchbook in September, with MeloMance. The Fact writes that the appearance made his name known to the public. That month he also released his first full-length album, The First Album Part 1: The Road, and in December he sang on the soundtrack of the KBS drama Black Knight: The Man Who Guards Me.

In March 2018, he sang “Every Day, Every Moment” for the SBS drama Should We Kiss First? His single “Me After You,” released in October, won first place on SBS’s Inkigayo in November, and in December he began his first nationwide tour. In January 2019, he won the Best OST award at the Golden Disc Awards, and in August he released “So Long” for Hotel Del Luna. In October he released the first part of his second full-length album. In April 2020, he released the second part of that album, and in June “Every Day, Every Moment” received the first triple platinum certification in Gaon Certification’s streaming category.

In December 2021, he sang on the soundtrack of the tvN drama Jirisan. In June 2022, he released the third mini album, Star, and in December he sang on the soundtrack of Reborn Rich.

In February 2023, his contract with Neuron Music ended, and he performed the band live version of “You Remember,” from the soundtrack of the Netflix series The Glory, on air for the first time. In March he signed with Whyes Entertainment. In April 2024, he announced that he would marry his girlfriend of nine years.

In January 2025, he released a 10th anniversary album, and from February he held his first Asia tour. In September he held his first showcase in Japan, in Tokyo, and in December he held the solo concert Pauliday. In May 2026, he began as DJ of KBS Cool FM’s Gayo Gwangjang, in June he released a Japanese single, and in August he announced his first U.S. single.
