In 2010, the year he turned 19, he began working as a fashion model. He said on Running Man that he had modeled since he was 20. In November 2011, he enlisted and served until August 2013.
In 2015, he walked the runway for Vanhart di Albazar at Seoul Fashion Week. In 2016, he began acting as the nephew of Oh Chung-nam, played by Youn Yuh-jung, in tvN’s Dear My Friends. That May he also won fashion model of the year at the K-Model Awards.
In 2017, he played the lead character who shares his own name in tvN’s Modu-ui Yeonae. In 2019, he appeared in Search: WWW and Flower Crew: Joseon Marriage Agency. He says Do-jun in Flower Crew was the first major role he had played. In 2020, he played the actor Won Hae-hyo in tvN’s Record of Youth.
In 2021, he played Crown Prince Lee Pyo in KBS2’s Moonshine. In 2022, he took his first lead film role in Netflix’s 20th Century Girl, and late that year he won best new actor at the KBS Drama Awards. In 2023, the film Soulmate opened and he played a villain for the first time in JTBC’s Strong Girl Nam-soon.
The breakthrough yearThe year he turned 33, he played Ryu Sun-jae in tvN’s Lovely Runner. It came 14 years after his model debut and 8 years after his acting debut. From June to September that year he held his first fan meeting tour in eight Asian cities, and in December he won best actor of the year at the Asia Artist Awards.
In 2025, he was cast as the lead in Netflix’s Solo Leveling and received the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism citation at the Korean Popular Culture and Arts Awards. In 2026, MBC’s Perfect Crown ended with a finale rating of 13.8%, and he also appeared in the Netflix variety show Jae-seok’s B&B Rules!
