The year he turned 22, he entered show business by appearing in a Korean Air advertisement. In 2005, he debuted as an actor as Kim Cheol-su in MBC’s Sad Love Story, and also appeared in SG Wannabe’s “Crime and Punishment” music video.

In 2007, he played Hwang Chan-min, a third-generation chaebol, in KBS2’s Hello! Miss. In 2008, he received the New Star Award at the SBS Drama Awards for I Am Happy. In 2010, he acted in a period drama for the first time, as Kang Yoo-ji in KBS1’s The Great Merchant.

In 2011, he appeared in SBS’s If Tomorrow Comes. In 2012, he appeared in MBC’s Standby. In 2013, he appeared in SBS’s Thrice Married Woman. In 2014, he appeared in MBC’s 4 Legendary Witches.

The breakthrough yearThe year he turned 33, he appeared on tvN’s Hot Brain: Problematic Men from the first episode and became known. Star News wrote that it drew more attention than his more than ten years as an actor since his 2005 debut.

In 2016, he played Jin Jeong-seok, a star instructor in Noryangjin, in tvN’s Drinking Solo. In 2017, he appeared as the elite employee Seo Woo-jin in MBC’s Radiant Office. In 2018, he played the organizing consultant Kim Ji-woon in KBS’s Your House Helper.

In 2019, he made a cameo as Ri Moo-hyuk in tvN’s Crash Landing on You. In 2020, he played Seo-jin in MBC’s When I Was the Most Beautiful. In 2021, he signed an exclusive contract with Management Koo. In 2022, he played the judge Ryu Sung-hoon in tvN’s Blind.

The year he turned 41, he won Netflix’s The Devil’s Plan. Gwedo was the runner-up.

In 2024, he appeared on KBS2’s Pop-up Landing Operation. In 2025, he returned to the big screen after nine years in the film Run to You and also made a cameo in My Lovely Journey. In 2026, he played the chef Kim Mu-jin in KBS2’s Love on the Menu and took on a period drama as Yi Gyu, a king of Joseon, in To My Beloved Thief.
