The year he turned 25, he became head chef at Redwood Grill in Canada. In 2006, he began working as head chef at Alice’s Kitchen. In 2009, he became head chef at Grill Meg. In 2010, he became executive chef of Cereal Gourmet in Garosu-gil, Sinsa-dong, Seoul.
The breakthrough yearThe year he turned 36, he became known by appearing on Olive’s Sam and Raymon Cooking Time, a show in which he was paired with the chef Sam Kim.
In 2012, he became executive chef of Table on the Moon and first met the actress Kim Ji-woo in a segment of Olive Show. In 2013, he married Kim Ji-woo and opened the restaurant Midgard near Sinsa-dong that same year. In 2014, a daughter was born.
In 2015, he joined SBS’s Law of the Jungle in Indochina as the first chef on the show and also appeared on KBS Joy’s Hankkiui Pumgyeok. In 2017, he joined the chefs of JTBC’s Please Take Care of My Refrigerator.
In 2018, he appeared on Channel A’s Jibung Wiui Makgeolli and said he has a herniated disc. In 2019, he reopened Cereal Gourmet in Dongtan as Cereal Gourmet 2.0. In 2020, he opened the YouTube channel Insaeng Gogi.
In 2021, he became a judge on JTBC’s Cooking – The Birth of a Cooking King. In 2022, he cooked for a Black Desert Mobile user event. In 2023, he appeared on MBC’s Buddy Into the Wild and served a course meal on a deserted island.
In 2024, he said he had taken part in Netflix’s Culinary Class Wars season 1 as an adviser. In April 2025, he was head judge of a camping cooking festival, and in December he appeared on Culinary Class Wars season 2 as a white spoon. In 2026, he collaborated in turn with No More Pizza and Xylek Korea.
