In 2017, the year she turned 22, she made her acting debut in the independent film Project With The Same Name 2017. In college she combined fitting modeling with the drama club.
The breakthrough yearIn 2018, she made her commercial film debut in the thriller Marionette. Soon after, the year she turned 23, she won the lead in The Witch: Part 1. The Subversion through an audition with odds of 1,500 to 1 and became known. After the Fantasia International Film Festival’s Best Actress award in July, she won Best New Actress in turn at the Buil Film Awards, Grand Bell Awards and Blue Dragon Film Awards through autumn and winter.
In 2019, Joseilbo named her one of seven actresses to watch that year. In 2020, she played Jo Yi-seo in her first drama, JTBC’s Itaewon Class, and won Best New Actress in television at the Baeksang Arts Awards for it. At the end of the year she was confirmed for the sequel to The Witch.
In 2021, she played Kook Yeon-su in SBS’s Our Beloved Summer. In 2022, Our Beloved Summer ended and she was named Fendi’s Korean ambassador. She made a special appearance in The Witch: Part 2. The Other One and signed with UAA.
In 2023, she took her first film lead in five years in Soulmate. In 2024, she was named to Cine21’s Korean Film NEXT 50 actors list.
In 2025, she appeared in Disney+’s Nine Puzzles and JTBC’s A Hundred Memories, and Netflix’s The Great Flood was released in December. In 2026, she was confirmed for TVING’s The Obedient Killer, set for 2027.
