In 2022, he married Son Ye-jin and returned as Rim Cheol-ryeong in Confidential Assignment 2: International, which drew 4 million viewers in 11 days. A son was born in November. In 2023, he played the intelligence service agent Dae-sik in The Point Men, inspired by the 2007 kidnapping in Afghanistan. In 2024, he played An Jung-geun in Harbin, which took No. 1 at the box office on its first weekend with 2.38 million admissions. The year he turned 43, he won best actor at the 46th Blue Dragon Film Awards for Harbin. His wife Son Ye-jin won best actress the same day, the first married couple to win the lead acting awards in the 46-year history of the awards. He played the Korean Central Intelligence Agency section chief Baek Gi-tae in Disney+’s Made in Korea, and donated 200 million won with Son Ye-jin at year’s end. In 2026, he won best actor in broadcast at the 62nd Baeksang Arts Awards for Made in Korea.
