The breakthrough yearThe year he turned 23, he played the title character, Dong-hae, in the KBS1 daily serial Smile Again, his first lead role. Korea Economic TV says its ratings topped 40% and that he earned the nickname “the nation’s grandson.”

In 2011, Smile Again ended after 159 episodes, and SBS Warrior Baek Dong-soo began in July. In 2012, he played a villain in SBS Five Fingers.

In October 2013, he played Ta Hwan in MBC Empress Ki. In December 2014, KBS2 Healer began. In February 2015, Healer ended.

In 2016, he played the bodyguard Kim Je-ha in tvN The K2. In February 2017, he took his first lead role on the big screen in the film Fabricated City, and in August he entered active-duty army service.

In April 2019, he was discharged, and in September he returned in tvN Melting Me Softly. In 2020, he played the store manager Choi Dae-hyun in SBS Backstreet Rookie. In 2022, he played the magician Ri Eul in the Netflix original The Sound of Magic.

In December 2023, JTBC Welcome to Samdal-ri began. In November 2024, Disney+ Gangnam B-Side was released. In November 2025, Disney+ The Manipulated was released. In September 2026, the Netflix series The Scandal was released.
