The year he turned 22, he debuted as a solo singer with the album In Front of the Post Office in Autumn. In 1995, he appeared in Gaettongi, a rock opera directed by Kim Min-ki.

In 1996, he began performing as the Yoon Do-hyun Band (YB) from his second album. In December 1998, the “’98 Goodbye Best Live” concerts were announced at Yonsei University’s Centennial Memorial Hall.

The breakthrough yearThe year he turned 27, he sang five songs in the Korean version of Disney’s Tarzan, and in December “Neoreul Bonaego” reached the top 20 of the singles chart, making his name known.

In spring 2000, the band paused and then returned, and in October he released his first live album, Yoon Do-hyun Band LIVE. In 2001, he released the album An Urbanite. In 2002, he became host of KBS’s Yoon Do-hyun’s Love Letter, and in June the World Cup cheer song “Oh! Pilseung Korea” became a hit and the band came to be called the national band. He married on June 15, during the tournament.

In 2005, “I Guess I Loved You” from his solo album took first place on a music chart show for the first time. In 2006, the band changed its name to YB and he released the seventh album. In 2008, Yoon Do-hyun’s Love Letter, which he had hosted for six years and seven months, ended. In 2009, he released the solo album Harmony.

In 2010, the documentary Flying Butterfly, about YB’s tour of a U.S. rock festival, was released. In 2011, he appeared on MBC’s I Am a Singer, and in December became host of SBS’s K-pop Star. In 2013, he released YB’s ninth album. In 2014, he released the solo mini album Singing Yoon Do-hyun.

In 2015, he held YB’s 20th anniversary concert, “20 Years Old.” In 2018, he began the YB:PULSE shows at arts centers in small provincial cities. In 2019, he released YB’s tenth studio album, the first in six years.

In 2021, the year he turned 49, he was diagnosed with gastric MALT lymphoma after a health checkup. In 2022, he was lead vocalist on the official cheer song for the Qatar World Cup, 20 years after the 2002 World Cup. In 2023, he said he had been declared fully recovered after three years of treatment.

In 2024, he went on a nationwide tour and marked 30 years since his debut. In December he was music director of Netflix’s Rugged Rugby: Conquer or Die. In 2025, he released Odyssey, YB’s first metal album, as an EP. In 2026, he appeared on MBC’s Omniscient Interfering View.

Yoon Do-hyun (born Feb 3, 1972) debuted in 1994, the year he turned 22, with his first studio album, and became known when “Neoreul Bonaego” reached the top 20 of the singles chart in late 1999, the year he turned 27. In 2002, the year he turned 30, the World Cup cheer song “Oh! Pilseung Korea” became a hit and the band came to be called the national band.
