The breakthrough yearThe year he turned 15, he debuted as the youngest member of SHINee with the song “Replay.” The group made its first stage on SBS Inkigayo on May 25 and won rookie awards at several ceremonies that year.
In 2009, SHINee came back with “Ring Ding Dong” and took first place on Music Bank. In 2010, they released the second full-length album Lucifer. In 2011, their Japanese debut single reached No. 2 on the Oricon weekly chart. In 2012, they came back with “Sherlock.”
In 2013, SHINee won the Best Artist award at the Melon Music Awards. In August 2014, he released his first solo mini album, Ace. In 2015, SHINee held headline concerts at the Tokyo Dome. In February 2016, he held a showcase for his first solo full-length album, Press It.
In 2017, he returned with the second full-length album Move. In June 2018, a listening event was held for SHINee’s The Story of Light EP.2. In 2019, he released the mini album Want, and in October SuperM’s debut album reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
In 2020, he started his third full-length album project, Never Gonna Dance Again, with the prologue single in August and ended it with the combined album in December. On May 31, 2021, he enlisted in the Army. In January 2022, he was reassigned to supplementary service. In April 2023, he was discharged, and he resumed activities with the fourth mini album Guilty in October and the solo concert METAMORPH in December.
In March 2024, his exclusive contract with SM Entertainment ended, and in August he released the fifth mini album Eternal. In September 2025, he released the special single “Veil.”
In March 2026, he signed with Galaxy Corporation, and in April he performed at Coachella. He released the EP Phase 1: Soft Violence on Aug. 31 and began a world tour in Seoul in September.
Taemin (born Jul 18, 1993) became known on May 22, 2008, the year he turned 15, when he debuted as the youngest member of SHINee with the song “Replay.” He released his first solo mini album, Ace, on Aug 18, 2014, the year he turned 21.
