The year she turned 16, she debuted in the girl group Miss A. That November, Miss A won three awards at the Mnet Asian Music Awards, including best new female artist. In 2011, she made her acting debut as Go Hye-mi in KBS2’s Dream High and won best new actress at the KBS Drama Awards at the end of the year.

In 2013, she played Dam Yeo-ul in MBC’s Gu Family Book. In 2015, she played Jin Chae-seon in the film The Sound of a Flower. In 2016, she returned to TV after three years with KBS2’s Uncontrollably Fond.

In 2017, she released her first solo mini album, Yes? No?, and appeared in SBS’s While You Were Sleeping. In December, Miss A officially disbanded. In 2018, she released her second mini album, Faces of Love. In 2019, she left JYP Entertainment and signed with Management Soop, and played Ko Hae-ri, a National Intelligence Service agent, in SBS’s Vagabond.

In 2020, she played Seo Dal-mi in tvN’s Start-Up. In 2021, she held an online fan concert for her 10th debut anniversary. In 2022, she released the digital single “Satellite” and played her first sole lead role in Coupang Play’s Anna.

In 2023, she appeared in Netflix’s Doona!. In 2024, the film Wonderland opened. In 2025, she starred opposite Kim Woo-bin in Netflix’s Genie, Make a Wish. In 2026, a December release was announced for the film Seven O’Clock Breakfast Club for the Brokenhearted.
