The year she turned 20, she went up on stage at a public broadcast of a radio show and started in broadcasting, and she made her first television appearance as the “Surprise Girl” on KBS2’s Lee So-ra’s Propose. In 1999, she was chosen by 125 respondents in a Unitel survey on all-round entertainers.
The breakthrough yearThe year she turned 22, she appeared in MBC’s Nonstop 2 and her name became known. That November she also became MC of Cohabitation Together.
In December 2001, she won the grand prize at the MBC Entertainment Awards. Herald POP writes that she was the first woman and the youngest to win it. In 2002, she released an album with Park Soo-hong as the Park Go-te Project and won a special award at that year’s Golden Disc Awards. In January 2003, she set aside her five years in broadcasting and left for New York in February. In April she gave a special lecture at Yale. In 2004, she published an English study memoir and finished her studies at the New York Film Academy in October.
In 2006, she became a Save the Children ambassador. In 2007, she married. In 2008, she became DJ of MBC Radio’s Starry Night.
In 2009, she gave birth to her first son, and in December she hosted a film press conference for the first time. In 2010, she became the first entertainer to enter KAIST’s executive program. In 2012, she signed an exclusive contract with Koen Entertainment.
In 2013, she became the first woman DJ of 2 O’Clock Date. In 2014, she began a talk concert under her own name. In 2016, she stepped down from 2 O’Clock Date. In 2018, she founded the one-person agency WeDream Company.
In 2023, she appeared on Netflix’s The Devil’s Plan. In 2025, she was creative director of the show musical Again Dream High. At the Children’s Day ceremony she received a presidential commendation.
In 2026, she marked 20 years as a Save the Children ambassador.
