The year she turned 24, she appeared on SBS Plus’s Ganghodaegyeol Junghwa Daebanjeom as a disciple of Yeo Kyung-lae’s school, and in the disciples’ contest aired Oct. 31 she shared the win with Jung Ji-sun. SBS reports that she had been called the IU of Chinese cuisine since the early episodes.

In 2016, she won a silver medal at the Lee Kum Kee International Young Chef Chinese Culinary Challenge in Hong Kong. In 2019, she appeared on Gwangju MBC’s Pink Fish with Yeo Kyung-lae, Jung Ji-sun and others.

In 2020, she taught Yoo Jae-suk the recipe for Yoo San-seul ramen on MBC’s Hangout with Yoo.

In 2021, she appeared as a contestant on Daehanminguk Chicken Daejeon. In 2022, she appeared on tvN’s Jul Seoneun Sikdang and KBS2’s Boss in the Mirror.

The breakthrough yearThe year she turned 33, she appeared as a Black Spoon, the “Goddess of Chinese Cuisine,” on Netflix’s Culinary Class Wars and became known. She lost her 1-on-1 match against Jung Ji-sun but returned as a wildcard, and was eliminated in the convenience store mission. That December, she appeared on Please Take Care of My Refrigerator. At the time she was working as sous chef at a restaurant in Hong Kong.

In 2025, she appeared in the Hong Kong episode of Jun Hyun-moo Plan 2, and in December she opened the Chinese restaurant Nuwa in Sinsa-dong, Seoul. In 2026, she appeared on Omniscient Interfering View and Problem Child in House season 2, and has run the YouTube channel Babeunyoung since April. She married in May.
