In 2004, the year he turned 18, he hit home runs in four straight at-bats against Hwimun High School at the Presidential Cup national high school baseball tournament, a first in high school baseball. In 2005, he joined the LG Twins as a first-round pick.

In 2008, he finished two years of military service with Sangmu. On the last day of July 2011, he was traded from LG to Nexen, and in December he married.

The breakthrough yearThe year he turned 26, in his first full season with Nexen, he led the league in home runs and RBI with 31 home runs and 105 RBI and won the regular-season MVP. MBN reported that until the previous year he had been an unknown player with a career batting average below .200 over seven years.

In 2013, he won four batting titles with 37 home runs and was MVP for the second straight year. In 2014, he hit 52 home runs, the KBO’s first 50-homer season in 11 years, and won gold at the Incheon Asian Games as the national team captain.

In 2015, he hit 53 home runs to win a fourth straight home run title; in November the Minnesota Twins won the negotiating rights in the posting process, and he signed in December. In 2016, he hit his first major league home run but was sent down to the minor leagues that year. He spent the entire 2017 season in the minor leagues.

In 2018, he returned to Nexen and hit 43 home runs, and won gold at the Jakarta–Palembang Asian Games. In 2019, he won his fifth career home run title. In 2021, he signed a free-agent deal with KT. In 2022, he won his sixth career home run title, the most in KBO history.

In 2024, he was traded to Samsung, and in September he hit his 400th career home run. In the Korean Series, the team lost to KIA one win to four.

In 2025, the year he turned 39, he announced his retirement as a player. In January 2026, he began coaching as senior coach of Kiwoom’s third team, and in April held his retirement ceremony.

Park Byung-ho (born Jul 10, 1986) joined the LG Twins as a first-round pick in 2005, the year he turned 19, and became known on Nov 5, 2012, the year he turned 26, when he won the regular-season MVP with Nexen. He won his sixth career home run title in 2022, the year he turned 36.
