In 2013, the year he turned 4, he first appeared on TV, on MBC Every1’s Mom and Dad from Today. In 2014, he played Chan in MBC’s Pride and Prejudice.
In 2016, he played the son in SBS’s Come Back Mister and JTBC’s Listen to Love. In 2017, he appeared in KBS2’s Good Manager and the film Because I Love You.
The breakthrough yearThe year he turned 9, he played the young Park Hae-jin in the film Cheese in the Trap. In tvN’s Mr. Sunshine he played the younger version of Eugene Choi, played by Lee Byung-hun, and became known through the role. In MBC’s Children of Nobody he played Han Si-wan, who is abused by his father.
In 2019, he played the young Yeo Jin-goo in tvN’s Hotel del Luna and Jo Jung-suk’s nephew Ji-ho in the film Exit, seen by 9.4 million people. He also played Gong Hyo-jin’s son Kang Pil-goo in KBS2’s When the Camellia Blooms and won the Youth Acting Award at that year’s KBS Drama Awards.
In 2020, he played the younger version of Nam Joo-hyuk’s character in tvN’s Start-Up. In 2021, he followed tvN’s Mouse with the role of Lee Yong-tae in SBS’s Racket Boys. The Racket Boys cast won the Best Supporting Team award at that year’s SBS Drama Awards.
In 2022, nine years after his debut, he signed with an agency, Awesome ENT, for the first time. That year he also played the young Jin Do-joon in JTBC’s Reborn Rich.
In 2023, he played Kwon Hyuk-soo, a high school student bullied at school, in TVING’s Death’s Game, his first school-violence drama since his debut. In 2024, after Netflix’s Goodbye Earth, he played Noa as a teenager in Apple TV+’s Pachinko season 2. He graduated from middle school in December.
In 2025, the year he turned 16, he played the young Lee Chang-ho in the film The Match, which ranked first at the box office on its opening day. Two days later he made a guest appearance in Netflix’s When Life Gives You Tangerines, by Lim Sang-choon, who wrote When the Camellia Blooms.
Kim Kang-hoon (born 2009) first appeared on TV in 2013, the year he turned 4, on MBC Every1’s Mom and Dad from Today, and became known on Jul 7, 2018, the year he turned 9, when he played the younger version of Lee Byung-hun’s character in tvN’s Mr. Sunshine. In 2019, the year he turned 10, he played Kang Pil-goo in When the Camellia Blooms and won the Youth Acting Award at the KBS Drama Awards.
