In 2011, he appeared in the segment Jeokbanhajang on SBS’s Gag Tonight and won the Comedy Rookie Award at the SBS Entertainment Awards at the end of the year. In 2012, he appeared in a new segment of the same program, Sagwanamu.
The breakthrough yearThe year he turned 33, the Utchatsa segment Namjakkiri drew attention on social media and made his name known. It was seven years after his debut. At the end of that year, he won the Top Excellence Award in comedy at the SBS Entertainment Awards.
In 2017, he married the comedian Lee Eun-hyung, and in May Utchatsa aired its last broadcast. In 2020, he appeared in JTBC’s Don’t Be the First One! He closed the restaurant he had run for about three years, and the YouTube channel Giyu TV passed 100,000 subscribers. On tvN’s Comedy Big League, he appeared in 2020 Supercha Couple. In 2021, he appeared in 2021 Supercha Couple Begins, and in July on Cultwo Show he said he had exercised every day for 193 days from Jan. 1.
In February 2023, he took on badminton with Lee Eun-hyung on TV Chosun’s Bubu Seonsuchon, and in May he signed an exclusive contract with the agency where she is signed.
In February 2024, Lee Eun-hyung announced her pregnancy, and their son was born in August. In December he appeared on KBS2’s The Return of Superman.
In 2025, he appeared with Lee Eun-hyung as a guest on Netflix’s Closet Battle, and in August served as special DJ on KBS Cool FM’s Haha’s Super Radio. In December he said he had completed the Honolulu Marathon in Hawaii. In September 2026, the year he turned 44, he appeared on Cultwo Show, and on Oct. 4 he finished the Seoul 10K race with Lee Eun-hyung.
