In 2004, the year he turned 25, he debuted as a comedian in KBS’s 19th open recruitment, with his Ongdalsaem teammates Yoo Se-yoon and Yoo Sang-moo.
The breakthrough yearIn 2005, the year he turned 26, he became known through several sketches on Gag Concert, including a clumsy private in Shin Dongjakgeuman and a school security guard in Bongsunga School. At the end of that year he won the excellence award in comedy (male) at the KBS Entertainment Awards.
In 2006, he played the son of Kim Dae-hee and Shin Bong-sun in We Need to Talk. In 2007, he won the best corner award in comedy at the KBS Entertainment Awards for the same sketch. In 2008, he played the grandmother in Grandma Is Angry.
In 2010, he hosted an MBC FM4U radio program with Yoo Se-yoon and Yoo Sang-moo. In 2011, he won season 1 of Comedy Big League as Ongdalsaem.
In 2014, he won tvN’s The Genius: Black Garnet. In April 2015, over a controversy about offensive remarks, he withdrew as a candidate for Infinite Challenge’s Sixth Man project and left his KBS radio DJ post, and apologized at a press conference. In September, he won The Genius: Grand Final for a second year in a row.
In 2016, when a line in a sketch was criticized as mocking single-parent families, he apologized and left Comedy Big League and Look Back at Me. In 2017, he returned to Gag Concert, and in November he won Society Game: Season 2. In 2018, he appeared on E Channel’s Talking Unification: Joint Study Area JSA.
In 2019, he became a regular on MBC’s Where Is My Home. In 2021, he was a regular on Channel A’s Steel Troops, and he married in December. That month he also won the excellence award in variety at the MBC Entertainment Awards.
In 2022, his first child, a daughter, was born. In 2023, he became a regular on tvN and tvN STORY’s Golf Star K and founded the eco-friendly startup Pureunhaneul. In October he was named ambassador of the Seoul Hockey Association. In 2024, his second child, a son, was born, and in October he won the Asian Poker Tour Taiwan team event.
In 2025, he won Wavve’s Game of Blood 3, and in April Pureunhaneul signed an agreement to commercialize its PET bottle label. In 2026, he won a brain survival game for the fifth time with Betting on Fact and obtained another eco-friendly patent. In July, it was reported that he would appear in Netflix’s The Devil’s Plan 3.
