He released Sogno in 1999, with a duet with Céline Dion, and was nominated for a Grammy for Best New Artist. The year he turned 42, he received two more Grammy nominations. Sentimento came out in November 2002. In May 2003, he won best album and biggest-selling classical album of the year at the Classical Brit Awards.
In 2006, he sang at the closing ceremony of the Winter Olympics. His Christmas album My Christmas came out in the U.S. on Nov. 3, 2009, and ranked fifth among that year’s best-selling albums. In 2010, he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and played to 16,500 people at the O2 Arena in London. In September 2011, he played a free concert on Central Park’s Great Lawn.
His albums in the following years included Passione in 2013, Manon Lescaut in 2014 and Cinema in 2015. That year he also sang “The Lord’s Prayer” before Pope Francis in Philadelphia. In 2016, he sang at Leicester City’s Premier League title celebration. In December 2017, Ed Sheeran said Bocelli would sing the second verse of a new version of “Perfect.”
The year he turned 60, Sì reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200, his first U.S. No. 1 album. The year he turned 62, his Easter livestream from the Duomo in Milan reached more than 2.8 million peak concurrent viewers on YouTube. In 2021, he signed a global recording agreement with Universal Music Group.
In May 2023, he sang with Bryn Terfel at the Coronation Concert. In July 2024, he marked 30 years in music with a concert in Lajatico. In 2025, dates were announced for a tour marking three decades of Romanza. In 2026, he sang “Nessun Dorma” at the Winter Olympics opening ceremony in February and released Romanza’s 30th anniversary edition in September.
